Healing Through Connection and Community

Caregiving can be lonely, especially when it feels like you’re carrying the emotional weight for your family. But here’s the truth: you don’t have to do it alone. Finding your people—folks who understand what you’re going through—can make all the difference.

The more I’ve shared my caregiving journey, the more I’ve realized how many of us are in the same boat. Every time I connect with another caregiver, it feels like a weight-lift. Just knowing I’m not alone is a relief.

Research shows caregivers with strong support systems have lower stress levels and better overall health. For Black women, connecting in culturally affirming spaces is especially powerful.

Look for a support group or community specifically for Black caregivers. Can’t find one? Create your own space—a casual dinner with friends or an online chat group can go a long way.

You are never alone on this journey. Connection is a powerful source of healing and renewal, and finding your people reminds you of your own strength. Together, we rise, thrive, and flourish. Seek the community that fills your cup—you’re worthy of it.❤️

Honoring you,

Dr. Dom
