Have you often found yourself categorized as “the first” to accomplish a specific goal amongst your family and friends? What about realizing you’re “the only [insert identity marker here]” as you continue to navigate the workplace? â€‹

While being the first, the only, or any remixes of these phrases may provide much joy and pride in the moment, stepping into these positions can also lead to stress, sadness, and feeling unheard or unappreciated for your contributions.

With a profound understanding of intersectionality and cultural nuances, I specialize in treatment that centers the unique experiences and challenges faced by Black women. We often navigate complex societal pressures, systemic biases, and historical traumas that not only impact our mental and physical well-being, but also limit the ability to show up as our authentic selves while managing multiple roles.

My integrative approach is rooted in cultural humility and evidence-based practices, but also connection, authenticity, resilience, and a touch of humor. I want to help you further explore any obstacles you believe may be stealing your joy and peace, including race-based stress, microaggressions, life and career transitions, relationship dynamics, work-life balance, chronic health conditions, or the pressure to always be a “strong” Black woman. My goal is to foster a safe, affirming, and empowering space for clients to heal, grow, and thrive during their journeys.

I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, completed my doctoral internship at the APA accredited program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, and specialized in reproductive and perinatal treatment as a postdoctoral health psychology fellow at Montefiore Medical Center. I have developed expertise as a reproductive psychologist, working with clients who are often seeking services during some of their most vulnerable moments, such as managing fibroids, endometriosis, assisted reproductive technology (ART), infertility, high-risk pregnancies, the postpartum period, NICU deliveries, perinatal loss, or entering perimenopause. I am also a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) with experience helping individuals, families, couples, and groups navigating relational concerns and transitions.

Finally, I am originally from and will always consider myself a Georgia girl. I find the most joy in spending time with family and friends, attending live concerts and comedy shows, discovering new restaurants, wandering with no set itinerary, sampling gelato and seasonal coffee flavors, watching cooking shows for new ideas, and caring for my fur baby Toussaint.

I believe we deserve spaces where we feel seen, heard, and understood without having our lived realities questioned. My mission is to empower you to embrace your authentic self, navigate life's challenges utilizing your inherent strengths, and cultivate an existence filled with joy and connection. Together, let’s embark on a journey of healing where you can transition from surviving to thriving.
