What I need you to know...

For far too long we have been told, "be strong" and "don’t let them see you sweat." But my biggest flex as a therapist is to help you understand and embrace ALL sides of who you are. I can be your safe space, especially for the emotions you keep hidden from most of the world. Let's work together if you are seeking to:

  • Understand yourself beneath the roles, titles, and expectations you carry.

  • Learn to use vulnerability as a source of strength, not weakness.

  • Let go of perfectionism and hyper-independence that no longer serves you.

  • Manage anxiety, chronic stress depression, or emotional numbness that shows up when you are always “on.”

  • Work through romantic relationship challenges, including communication and trust.

  • Reclaim sexual confidence, body image, pleasure, and personal power after trauma.

My approach to healing

My clients often aspire to “get in control” of their lives and relationships. But they are quickly taken aback when I explain that being in control is an illusion. So much of our suffering hinges on us trying to control what is outside of us.

I use a variety of approaches in the therapy room:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Emotion-Focused Therapy
Solution-Focused Therapy
Strength-Based and Culturally Responsive

EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS

Licensed Psychologist  Florida #PY10804

My educational background began at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (shout out to my FAMULY!). As a proud 2X FAMU alumna, I’ve earned a B.S. in psychology and a M.S. in community psychology. I then matriculated to the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology (VCPCP) where I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I completed an APA accredited internship at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, followed by a yearlong postdoctoral fellowship at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center. I have over 10 years of clinical experience with adults and couples in various settings including college counseling, corrections, hospital medical centers, and private practice. In addition to my clinical work, I’m a certified clinical sexuality coach and sexpert.

On a personal note...

I am originally from Orlando, Florida, but my experience as a military spouse has led to the unique opportunity to reside in paradise (Honolulu, Hawaii)! Daredevil at heart, while living on the island of Hawaii I plan to learn to surf, become scuba dive certified, and cage swim with tiger sharks. When I’m not listening to Beyoncé, I love spending time with husband and daughter, exploring the beautiful beaches of Oahu, and trying new foods to expand my cultural palate.

Vulnerability as Strength

“Dr. Jac has this ability to cut through the noise and get you to the root of what’s holding you back. She didn't let me get away with trying to 'power through.' She pushed me to sit with my tough feelings and taught me how to use them to heal instead of ignore them. I am forever grateful.”
